Problem

The patient presented with a badly destroyed tooth. So little sound structure remained that it could not be rebuilt. A tooth in this state cannot be restored; the only question is how best to replace it.

Diagnosis

Imaging showed the tooth was beyond saving, but the surrounding bone and gum were healthy. This made the patient a good candidate for immediate implantation, placing the implant in the same session as the extraction.

Treatment Plan

Remove the destroyed tooth and place a titanium implant into the socket in one procedure, then restore it with a permanent all-zirconia crown once healing is complete. Fewer surgical stages, and the tissues are shaped from the start.

Treatment Steps
1

Extraction + immediate implant

The destroyed tooth was removed and a titanium implant was placed into the site in the same session, minimising surgery and preserving the surrounding tissue.

2

Healing & integration

The implant was left to integrate with the bone while the gum healed and formed a natural contour around it.

3

Zirconia crown

Once integration was confirmed, a permanent all-zirconia crown was fixed on the implant, matched in colour and shape to the neighbouring teeth.

Result

The lost tooth is fully replaced. The zirconia crown on the implant is indistinguishable from the natural teeth around it, and full chewing function and comfort are restored.

What is immediate implantation?

Immediate implantation means placing the implant in the same appointment as the extraction, instead of waiting months for the socket to heal first. When the bone and gum are healthy it means fewer procedures, less total healing time and better-shaped tissue around the final crown. The result is a fixed, metal-free tooth that preserves the bone and spares the neighbours.
